Historical Event on 5/25/1965
Independent India had further clashes with Pakistan in 1965 and 1971, one over the intractable Kashmir dispute and the other over Bangladesh. A border war was also fought with China in 1962 in the North-Eastern region, which resulted in the loss of Aksai Chin in Ladakh and smaller areas in the North-east. India continues to dispute sovereignty over these areas.

7/13/1988	Second developmental launch of ASLV. Stretched Rohini Satellite Series (SROSS-2). This carried remote sensing payload of German space agency in addition to Gamma Ray astronomy payload. Could not be placed in orbit.

6/28/1972	Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis died. He was the first founder of Indian statistical Institute to receive world recognition. In 1958, he started his national sample surveys. A Sample survey means assessing a situation by studying a part of it which would represent the whole, some of his proposals were included in the second five year paln. His original work made him elected as fellow of the Royal society in 1945.
7/31/1996	Joginder Singh became the director of Central Bureau of Investigation (till 30/06/97).
2/20/1846	Duleep Singh was recognised as the ruler. British captured Lahore.
2/9/1929	Abdul Rehman Abdul Gafur Antule, former Chief Minister of Maharashtra and Central Minister for Health, was born.
5/2/1954	Ceylon Asian conference ends with plea for peace in Indo-China, end of atomic tests and condemnation of colonialism.
1/14/1926	Mahashweta Devi was born at Jinda Bahar Lane, Dhaka.
