Mumbai, Dec 1 (IANS) Ahead of their first 'home' match of the 2020/21 season of the Indian Super League (ISL), Mumbai City FC paid a special tribute to the city of Mumbai and their fans on Tuesday by unveiling a mural and a large scale banner.

"With the global pandemic compelling the fans and supporters to cheer from home, Mumbai City FC has created the two pieces of artwork at two distinct places close to the heart of the Islanders," said the club in its statement.

The club further said that Mumbai-based artist Tanya Eden has conceptualised the works. While the mural is displayed at the Andheri Sports Complex in Mumbai where the team has played its home matches in previous seasons, the banner will be displayed at the GMC Stadium in Bambolim, Goa, where the club plays its home games this season.

"With these amazing illustrations, we wanted to show the players that everyone in the city is behind them, and to the fans, we wanted to say that they are "closer than ever" to the team with their bright energy whenever they play the most beautiful game," co-owner Ranbir Kapoor said in the statement.

Kapoor unveiled the banner while Mumbai District Football Association president Aditya Thackeray unveiled the banner.

"I am really honoured to be presenting the very special mural, which represents the Herculean spirit of the city and its people. As always, I wish the club the very best for this season, and always know that as fans, we are all rooting for you," Thackeray said.
