Hyderabad, Dec 1 (IANS) Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) legislator from Nagarjunasagar constituency, Nomula Narsimhaiah passed away at a private hospital in Hyderabad on Tuesday. He was 64.

Narsimhaiah, who was ill for some time, was shifted to Apollo Hospital in Hyderguda early on Tuesday after he complained of chest pain.

Doctors at the hospital said he was brought dead around 5.30 a.m.

He was a three-time MLA from Nakrekal and Nagarjunasagar constituencies in 1999, 2004 and 2018.

Hailing from Palem village of Marxist hotbed Nakrekal mandal in Nalgonda district, he was active in Communist Party of India-Marxist for long. He was elected to the Assembly of undivided Andhra Pradesh from Nakrekal in 1999 and 2004.

Born on January 9, 1956, Narsimhaiah practiced as an advocate in Nakrekal and Nalgonda courts before joining politics in 1980s.

He had also contested unsuccessfully as CPI-M candidate from Bhongir Lok Sabha constituency in 2009.

Narsimhaiah joined the TRS in 2013 and contested as the party candidate from Nagarjunasagar. He, however, lost to senior Congress leader K. Jana Reddy. He won the seat in 2018 polls.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has expressed shock over the sudden demise of Narsimhaiah. He said Narsimhaiah would remain as the leader who worked for the people throughout his life. He said the death of Narasimhaiah would be a loss to the TRS party and the people in his constituency. The CM conveyed his condolences to members of the bereaved family.

Leaders of the Congress, the BJP, the CPI and the CPI-M also condoled the death of the MLA.
